Hanjin’s Subic shipyard wins eight newbuildings
Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction – Philippines (HHIC-Phil or Hajin’s Subic shipyard), the overseas corporate unit of HHIC, has received new orders to construct four Suezmax 160,000 dwt oil tankers and four 180,000 dwt bulk carriers worth a total of $450 million.
These orders were by ship owners in China, Singapore and Greece. The Subic shipyard has already won contracts to build 11 large-sized vessels in this year alone. The shipyard previously received orders for two 180,000 dwt vessels in January and one in February. This contract in particular will pave the way for HHIC-Phil to enter the large-sized oil tanker construction market.
