Olympic orders LNG PSV from STX

The new PSV 06 LNG vessel will be built to a design by STX Norway Offshore Design in Ålesund, according to the latest SPS regulations which, it is claimed, will offer excellent stability under all weather conditions and the highest levels of safety for the crew. The 95m long, 20m wide hull is to be built at Tulcea, Romania, and the vessel will be outfitted at the Aukra yard in Norway.

LNG has been chosen as an environmental friendly combustion fuel, resulting in levels of NOx and CO

₂

emissions to the atmosphere far below any fuel-oil based engine. To date, STX Norway Offshore has delivered six LNG-powered vessels and has, including this new contract, a total of five LNG-powered vessels under construction.
