Maritime emissions fall 4.5% in Q2 2025 despite fleet growth, VesselBot data shows

VesselBot has released its latest quarterly analysis of maritime emissions, covering the period April to June 2025. The study, based on data from 72,516 voyages undertaken by 4,865 vessels, highlights shifts in efficiency and emissions performance across vessel sizes, ages, shipbuilding origins and trade routes.

According to the findings, total emissions fell to 46.8 million tonnes, a 4.5% reduction compared with the same quarter in 2024, despite an 8% increase in overall fleet size. Voyage counts declined marginally by 0.3%, while emissions intensity improved alongside higher vessel utilisation.
