Joint venture leads the way for two-stage turbocharging

Turbocharger manufacturer ABB Turbo Systems and engine designer Wärtsilä have joined together to jointly develop what is described as “a new and groundbreaking application of two-stage turbocharging” on large diesel engines.

The two-stage turbocharging technology being tested on a 20-cylinder Wärtsilä 32 engine in the laboratory in Vaasa, Finland
