WinGD secures LNG carrier service deals
WinGD has inked three long-term service agreements covering 14 LNG carriers, expanding its global engine support business
WinGD has secured three long-term service agreements covering 14 LNG carriers, strengthening its global lifecycle support business and expanding partnerships with major ship managers.
The agreements with COSCO Shipping LNG (Hong Kong) Ship Management, NYK LNG Shipmanagement and TMS Cardiff Gas cover vessels equipped with different generations of WinGD’s X-DF dual-fuel engines.
Benny Hilström, vice-president of market development at WinGD, said: “These agreements demonstrate the growing importance operators place on long-term lifecycle support from the original engine designer.”
He added that reliable engine performance was essential to LNG shipping, with the contracts providing access to maintenance, technical expertise and support throughout vessels’ operational lives.
The agreements include a ten-year contract with COSCO Shipping LNG covering six carriers powered by WinGD 6X72DF engines. A five-year agreement with NYK LNG Shipmanagement covers ten engines across five vessels, spanning several generations of X-DF technology.
The third agreement covers three newbuild LNG carriers operated by Athens-based TMS Cardiff Gas. Built by HD Hyundai Samho in South Korea, each vessel will be equipped with two WinGD 5X72DF dual-fuel engines.
The service packages combine spare parts for scheduled maintenance, technical labour, workshop services and advisory support with remote monitoring, troubleshooting and engine optimisation through WinGD’s WiDE digital platform.
Carmelo Cartalemi, head of strategic marketing at WinGD, said the company’s experience designing and developing X-DF engines gave it a detailed understanding of their performance across different vessels and operating conditions.
Through Global Service by WinGD, launched in 2025, the company combines engine-design expertise with digital monitoring and a worldwide service network. The offering aims to help operators anticipate technical issues, improve maintenance planning and optimise engine performance.
WinGD said the contracts further strengthen its growing portfolio of long-term service partnerships across major LNG shipping markets.
