Lukoil Marine’s Navigo MCL Ultra cylinder oil, designed specifically for vessels operating on ultra-low sulphur fuel, has been approved for use with MAN Diesel & Turbo and Wärtsilä engines.
The new product has been globally available since December 2014 and has been in use by various ship operators since January 2015. The company reported that tests by OEMs have confirmed excellent results.
Valeriy Naumenko, senior superintendent at Hamburg based ship operator E.R. Schiffahrt, reported: “The tests have shown that NAVIGO MCL Ultra maintains the engine in very good condition with excellent results regarding the cleanliness of the piston ring grooves and the back of the piston rings.”
The oil is aimed at operators sailing within emission control areas, where a 0.1% limit on fuel sulphur has been imposed since January 2015.
