      Using an abundant, if toxic, resource to power the maritime fleet. A mature future fuel already in use - but will it become dominant? LNG is currently the most popular lower carbon fuel, but with bio and e-LNG it could move beyond its current transition fuel status supported by extensive existing infrastructure. Numerous NGOs protested against the IMO earlier this year putting biofuels in its Global Fuel Standard, but the “fuel versus food” debate seems to have been solved by deriving fuels from waste. Technically the cleanest possible fuel source available to the maritime world and one that has the longest history, dating back to the 1950s. Why is it not in common, non-military use?

    PBST IS READYING TWO NEW SERIES OF MODULAR RADIAL TURBOCHARGER

    First two-stroke installation for PBST's TCT60 type turbocharger

    The first installation of a PBST TCT60 turbocharger in a two-stroke application has been completed. The single-stage axial turbocharger is bound for a MAN B&W 6G70ME-C10.5 LP-SCR engine, currently under construction by HSD Engine in Korea.

    Turkish shipowner selects TCT60 axial turbochargers for Suezmax tankers

    MAN Energy Solutions has won the order for 3 × TCT60 turbochargers for 3 × MAN B&W 6G70ME-C10.5 prime movers. The single-stage axial turbochargers will be installed in three 158,000 dwt Suezmax tankers. The newbuildings are being constructed for Turkish shipowner, Yasa Tanker, at DHSC shipyard in Korea.

  • PBST's Ralph Klaunig noted the PBST SCR-HP system undercut the current IMO III NOx threshold of 3.4g/kWh by more than 1g/kWh.

    Class approval for first PBST SCR-HP units

    The first PBST-branded and -built cluster-3 SCR-HP (Selective Catalytic Reduction – High Pressure) system has passed its approval test. The system’s approval certification and engine test was carried out at MAKITA’s works, under observation by class society ClassNK.
