SKF has announced the acquisition of a Sweden-based lubrication and oil filtration manufacturer, Efolex AB. Efolex supplied products to a range of industries, including some Scandinavian customers in the marine industry, under the Europafilter brand.

The group supplies offline filtration systems under the Europafilter system brand name. The group's technology is based on a patented capillary filtration system, using a cellulose filter, which has been supplied commercially since the 1990s. The system was capable of reducing particles of up to 0.1 microns, as well as moisture. In addition to use in the process manufacturing and energy industries, the solution was installed on a number of vessels.

SKF noted that the technology represented a "good strategic fit with SKF RecondOil’s Double Separation Technology" and widens the group's overall lubrication management capabilities.”  The Motorship reported that SKF had identified the marine sector as a potential target market for its oil regeneration service earlier in 2021.
