Interest in ammonia engines ‘overwhelming’, says MAN

The installation on board a bulk carrier of MAN’s ammonia-fuelled engine is testament to the ‘overwhelming’ interest in this alternative fuel

In one of the first projects for MAN Energy Solutions’ ammonia-powered engine, Imabari Shipbuilding is to install a B&W 7S60ME engine on board a bulk carrier.

The 200,000dwt carrier is a joint venture between K Line, NS United and Itochu Corporation and the engine is being built in Japan by Mitsui E&S.
