Nord Gas inks BW LPG deal

Nord Gas Solutions has secured a contract to supply the cargo handling system (CHS) and LPG fuel supply system (LFSS) for eight new 90,000m3 very large gas carrier (VLGC) vessels ordered by BW LPG.

The vessels will be constructed at HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HD HM), marking the first time VLGCs will be built at the yard within HD Hyundai. The contract was signed in August 2026.

The award strengthens the companies’ longstanding relationship and further establishes Nord Gas Solutions as a supplier of integrated cargo handling and fuel supply systems for the global LPG carrier market.

The project also marks another milestone in the company’s cooperation with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world’s largest shipbuilding group and a major builder of gas carriers.

Ha highlighted BW LPG’s historical support for Nord Gas Solutions, noting that BW Gas played a key role in helping the company secure its first breakthrough cargo handling system contract with HD Hyundai in 2005.

Nord Gas Solutions has continued to support BW LPG through comprehensive service and after-sales assistance for vessels operating worldwide. Its service network and technical expertise are intended to help address operational and technical challenges throughout the vessels’ working lives.

The CHS and LFSS packages for the eight new VLGCs will be designed around BW LPG’s operational requirements, with a focus on performance, reliability and maintainability throughout the vessel lifecycle.

The contract follows the formation of Nord Gas Solutions as the new corporate brand after Mutares SE & Co acquired Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, with the transaction taking effect on 1 June 2026.
