DNV validates bulk carrier wind power savings

DNV has validated the energy savings achieved by an innovative wind propulsion system installed on board a Kamsarmax bulk carrier

When installed on the, BAR Technologies’ WindWings technology has been found to reduce main engine energy consumption by 32% per nautical mile on board the MV Pyxis Ocean, managed by MC Shipping Singapore and chartered by Cargill.

The MV Pyxis Ocean is the world’s first ship to be equipped with the WindWings technology.
