Ulstein opts for Brunvoll propulsion package for new cable-layer
Brunvoll has been chosen as the supplier of a complete propulsion and manoeuvring system for what has been described as the most “technologically-advanced” cable-layer vessel. The new DP3 cable laying vessel has been ordered at Ulstein Verft AS by Nexans Marine Operations AS. The next-generation newbuilding is intended to replace Nexans’ existing Nexans Aurora.
The new vessel has been designed by Skipsteknisk AS to improve the capabilities and crew comfort on the existing Nexans Aurora. The new vessel will have a total loading capacity of 14,000 tons of high voltage cables and fiber optics, and the ability to lay up to four cables at once are the key features of the vessel.
