Japanese engine maker Yanmar has announced a first sale of a 220mm bore version of its LNG-fuelled EY22ALDF engine platform.

The order for a number of dual-fuel 6EY22ALDF type engines was placed in connection with a large coal carrier under construction by Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The vessel will be operated by Japanese shipowner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd when it enters service.
The six-cylinder, 220mm bore EY26DF extends the range of dual-fuel engines offered by Yanmar. A larger 260mm bore engine is already available as a propulsion engine and as a genset.
The 220mm bore engine features load fluctuation as well as a precision air flow control system – with waste gate valves controlling inlet air according to cylinder pressure. The company claims that the features allow 6EY22ALDF engines to deliver stable, highly reliable operations.
