Alfa Laval delivers to Fincantieri

04 Apr 2005

Alfa Laval, one of the main manufacturers and suppliers of heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling equipment, has received a major order from the Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri. The order includes the complete fuel oil treatment system for five cruise ships and two ro-ro vessels. The total order value is approximately $10.5 million.

The order features an unusual solution for the marine application in the shape of double wall heat exchangers to avoid contamination. Another solution includes a heat recovery system for the cruise ship ?Costa Crociere?, based on a new generation of heat exchangers. The solutions are environmentally friendly while also decreasing fuel consumption. The cruise ships are being built for the Carnival Group and the ro-ro vessels are owned by Finnlines. The systems will be delivered during 2005 and 2006.
