Techcross has already signed similar MoUs with a number of top ship repair companies

Ballast Water Management Systems expert, Techcross Inc, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Damen Ship Repair Harbor & Voyage to provide retrofit installation on its existing vessels.

Techcross has already signed similar MoUs with a number of top ship repair companies in Singapore, Dubai, India, Malaysia, Spain and China in order to ensure a stream of orders for its ballast water management systems.

There has been flurry of these BWMS MoU’s since the Ballast Water Management Treaty was ratified last year.

Back in September 2016, Techcross announced it would work together with Malaysian marine services provider, MMHE, at four repair shipyards located in Singapore, Dubai, India and Spain.

The MOU between Techcross and MMHE is intended to take advantage of the significant retrofitting market in the four countries.

It added an additional service base in Malaysia to keep up with demand and respond to customers’ enquiries more quickly.

Techcross said it is recognising a need to support its customers as the Convention enters into force and understands that good and effective cooperation with select BWMS providers will be critical towards providing support in future.

The IMO’s Ballast Water Management Convention will enter into force on 8 September 2017, but there are concerns that shipowners are still without treatment systems approved for global use.

Once the BWM convention comes into effect, it’s expected there will be a huge demand for BWMS installation from ship owners worldwide.
