ClassNK software integrates common structural rules
ClassNK has updates its ship design support software PrimeShip-Hull (HCSR), making it the first computer programme to reflect IACS’ Common Structural Rules (CSR) adopted in December 2014.
The software, free of charge to ClassNK clients, allows shipyards to create structural designs based on the latest prescriptive and direct strength calculation requirements. Version 2.0.0 also enables better connection with commercial computer-aided design (CAD) software, including NAPA Steel.
The classification society said that improved data linkages to prescriptive rule and direct strength calculating software could “exponentially reduce the amount of time typically required by the design process”.
Prescriptive rule calculation software now supports several member arrangements, while the speed of calculations has been improved for direct strength assessment software. Scantling values are also now suggested to satisfy fatigue assessment requirements.
