The fourth Gas Fuelled Ships Conference took place onboard the LNG-fuelled 'Viking Grace'

Bestobell Valves is enjoying a “great response” from delegates of the fourth Motorship Gas Fuelled Ships Conference, held in September onboard the LNG-fuelled ‘M/S Viking Grace’.

An audience of 200 delegates from the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, South Korea, the Middle East and South East Asia, sailed from Stockholm, Sweden to Turku, Finland and back onboard the world’s first passenger cruise vessel to be fuelled by LNG.

Mark Henley, MD of Bestobell's parent company President Engineering Group (PEGL), said: “We had a great response at the Gas Fuelled Ship Conference, with particular interest from American delegates and a number of enquiries for LNG carriers.”

“It is a great idea to hold the conference on a ship that runs on LNG, as it really did show its greater fuel efficiency and environmental benefits. It was also a great opportunity to network with professionals from across the marine industry to share knowledge and expertise,” he added.

As a manufacturer of LNG cryogenic valves, Bestobell was a major sponsor of Mercator Media’s Gas Fuelled Ships Conference 2013, which looked at the benefits and solutions of using LNG as a maritime fuel.

Held annually, it is aimed at industry professional including ship owners, ship operators, engine manufacturers, shipbuilders, classification societies, shipyards and port and terminal operators from around the world.

The next conference is set to take place in November 2014 in Hamburg, Germany.
