GMDSS simulators receive DNV-GL certification

Maritime simulator developer VSTEP has received a DNV-GL accreditation for its new generation of GMDSS simulators.

This is the latest in a big range of VSETP maritime stimulators to be DNV-GL certified for training in accordance with Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and International Maritime Organisation (IMO) requirements.

Pjotr van Schothorst, CEO of VSETP, said: “We are proud to have received DNV certification for another of our key maritime simulator products. Acquiring this accreditation for GMDSS by the leading certification body for simulators always involves a very thorough evaluation process."

“Each DNV certification we receive is a confirmation of the quality and training value of our simulators for our customers and we are delighted to add this latest certification to our maritime simulator range,” Mr Schothorst added.

GMDSS simulators come in two possible set ups, either a full hardware version or a virtual system with touch screens.

The new simulator is based on the latest in software technology and it is built in cooperation with professional mariners.

New features are included in the simulator that were not previously available on the market. These include showing four GMDSS peripherals on screen simultaneously and the option to connect multiple handsets to the simulator.
