29 Jun 2011

MAN Diesel & Turbo has added another two-stroke licensee to its roster, in the form of CSSC Guangzhou Marine Engine (GMD), part of the state-owned CSSC Group, and based close to Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

GMD has undertaken to produce 3 million bhp of engines in an initial building period. Construction will take place at a purpose-built facility that will begin production at the beginning of 2012.

Klaus Engberg, senior vice president two-stroke licensing, MAN Diesel & Turbo said: “We are delighted to add yet another member to our licensee family. GMD intends to make full use of the MAN B&W two-stroke portfolio and is establishing itself in the heart of Southeast Asia with its thriving shipbuilding industry. Naturally, GMD will be ideally placed to supply prime movers to this important market segment and we look forward to a fruitful partnership in the future.”
