STX OSV, the Singapore-based offshore and specialised vessel shipbuilder in which Fincantieri recently gained a majority shareholding, has announced no fewer than three separate contracts to build offshore subsea construction vessels for Norwegian-based owners.

The first is of the OSCV 03 design, and will be delivered to Solstad Offshore. The ship wll be about 121m long and 23m wide, equipped with a 250t crane and accommodation for 100 personnel. The hull will be built at STX OSV’s Tulcea yard in Romania, and the ship will be completed at STX OSV Aukra in Norway, for a scheduled delivery date in the second quarter of 2014. The value of the contract is about NOK 600 million.

In a second contract, STX OSV will build an OSCV 07 design vessel for Farstad Shipping. The ship is designed for subsea and IMR (inspection, maintenance and repair) operations, and will be 143m long, 25m wide and have a deck area of 1,800 m²-plus. It will be equipped with two offshore cranes, the larger having a 250t capacity, will be arranged for three ROVS and have accommodation for 130. As with the first order, the hull will be built at Tulcea, and in this case it will be completed at STX OSV Langsten for early 2015 delivery. This contract is worth about NOK 800 million.

The third order comes from DOF Subsea, and is for an OSCV 12 ship, of 161m length and 32m breadth. It too will be based on a hull from STX OSV Tulcea in Romania, and will be delivered by the STX OSV Søviknes yard in the first quarter of 2015.
