Management moves at DSB
Damen Shiprepair Brest (DSB) has appointed a new managing director, Mr Jos Goris, who will takeover from mid July.
Mr Goris succeeds Mr André Hollander, who managed the yard, formerly known as Sobrena, since Damen Shipyards Group took over its operations three months ago. Mr Hollander will remain at DSB as general affairs officer.
Mr Goris has vast experience in ship repair and conversion and has previously been managing director at Damen Shiprepair Götaverken (DSGö) in Sweden.
According to Mr Goris it’s important to invest strategically in services and people in order to meet customers’ needs as effectively as possible, especially now, in the current economic climate combined with high fuel prices.
He said: “I’m looking forward to working for DSB, seeing its expertise being brought into practice first-hand and to deliver satisfactory results for our clients.”
LNG carriers, VLCCs and offshore vessels will be an important part of DSB’s business in future. Mr Goris added: “We will differentiate ourselves on safety culture, project management and of course the quality of our work.”
DSB employs 210 workers and operates three large graven dry docks - the largest measures 420m by 80m.
