Bahamas recognises Indian Register of Shipping
The flag state of Bahamas has recognised the authority of Indian Register of Shipping to carry out statutory surveys, audits and certification of Bahamian ships and ship-operating companies.
The Indian Register is now recognised by 25 countries beyond India. Bahamas is among the sixth biggest flag state in the world, with more than 56m in gross tonnage.
The classification society noted: “This recognition reflects the increasing acceptance of the Indian Register by all major maritime administrations and is indicative of the progress made to internationalise and embrace new markets.”
