Seaspan Corporation (Seaspan), the containership owner and manager, in collaboration with Hapag-Lloyd, have signed a Conversion Commitment Agreement with MAN PrimeServ. The deal covers the retrofit of the main engines aboard 15 container vessels equipped with MAN B&W S90-type main engines to dual-fuel MAN B&W ME-LGIM types capable of operation on green methanol. The Agreement includes 45 optional engine retrofit solutions.

The study is intended to address several of the main obstacles to introducing an ammonia fuel bunker supply chain in Norway, including developing estimates of ammonia fuel demand, as well as optimising the ammonia fuel supply value chain.
