Green synthetic LNG bunkering first in Germany
On 29 September, a 1,036 teu containership, ElbBLUE, bunkered 20 tons of green SNG (Synthetic Natural Gas) at Elbe port in Brunsbüttel, Germany. The bunkering represented the first time that synthetic fuel – generated from 100% renewable energy via power-to-X technology – has been employed in commercial shipping.
