A consortium of major Japanese companies has established the Japan–New Zealand Hydrogen Corridor to study the development of a green hydrogen supply chain linking production in New Zealand with exports to Japan

The initiative was launched on 5 March 2026 by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Obayashi Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Chiyoda Corporation.
