Pilot study will evaluate potential for ammonia fuel retrofit on open hatch ship

The pilot study will assess the feasibility of converting one of Grieg’s L-class open hatch ships, similar to the Star Lygra, to be capable of operating on ammonia as a fuel.

An industry partnership led by Grieg Maritime Group and initiated by the Green Shipping Program has started a pilot project to study the potential for retrofiting an open hatch vessel to run on green ammonia.
