Training launched for alternative marine fuels

The Maritime Just Transition Task Force has unveiled the industry’s first dedicated training frameworks to prepare seafarers for working on ships powered by alternative fuels including ammonia, methanol and hydrogen

Designed for both entry-level and senior maritime personnel, the new frameworks provide the foundation for developing comprehensive training programmes focused on safety, competency and operational readiness.

The publicly accessible frameworks aim to support maritime regulators and administrations in shaping future certification schemes, classroom education, simulation assessments and onboard training standards.
