Korean Register and HD Hyundai Samho have teamed up to develop a water circulation system for the annular space in double-wall fuel pipes on ammonia-fuelled vessels, aiming to significantly enhance onboard safety

The innovative system is designed to circulate freshwater through the gap between the inner and outer layers of double-wall fuel pipes.

This mechanism serves as a safeguard against ammonia leakage, one of the most pressing safety concerns in ammonia-powered ship design due to the fuel’s high toxicity and corrosiveness.
