Industry partnership aims to move ammonia closer to commercial bunkering

CF Industries, Trafigura and TFG Marine have signed a memorandum of understanding to support the adoption of low-carbon ammonia as a marine fuel, as interest grows in ammonia’s potential role in shipping decarbonisation.

The agreement builds on an existing collaboration between CF Industries and Trafigura in the shipment of low-carbon ammonia and establishes a framework for joint work aimed at developing ammonia as a viable fuel for international shipping. The parties will focus on supporting the sector’s emissions-reduction objectives by addressing commercial, logistical and supply chain challenges.
