Order for 4 x 88,000cbm NH3 carriers includes NH3 DF option

Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) and Capital Gas Ship Management Corp have placed orders for four 88,000cbm very large ammonia carriers (VLACs) with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. The order is noteworthy as the ship owners have agreed to explore with Hyundai the possibility of equipping the vessels with an ammonia dual-fuel propulsion system. 

If the NH3 carriers are equipped with dual-fuel NH3 engine, they will be capable of operating with net zero emissions. The first 88,000 cbm vessels are expected to be delivered from the second half of 2027.
