NYK inks 'electricity carrier' development deal

The agreement encompasses PowerX's ESS prototype as well as a power transfer vessel concept (Power ARK) which is intended to overcome the expense of developing power connections to deepwater offshore wind farms in Japan's coastal waters.

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has entered a a strategic business alliance for the development and testing of Power X’s marine energy storage system and electric vessels designed to conduct power transfers.
