Kongsberg Maritime has launched a new emissions monitoring system to boost vessel efficiency and ensure emissions compliance across global fleets.

The Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) delivers real-time data on vessel emissions, helping shipowners stay ahead of tightening environmental regulations while optimising fuel efficiency.
“Ship owners need to comply with upcoming regulations that are tightening, year by year,” said Randi Østern, senior project manager at Kongsberg Maritime.
”The key to future proofing vessels is emissions monitoring and Kongsberg CEMS delivers the reliable data from sensor to cloud that our clients demand.”
Seamless integration
The system measures key pollutants such as CO₂, CH₄, SOx, NOx, and CO from all combustion sources on board.
CEMS integrates seamlessly with Kongsberg’s K-Chief vessel automation system, streamlining data collection through a central interface.
This reduces manual reporting errors and supports remote diagnostics with full cybersecurity protection.
Designed for flexibility, the modular system is suitable for both retrofits and newbuilds.
Real-time emissions data allows operators to identify inefficiencies and make informed decisions that improve vessel efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.
In addition to helping avoid costly regulatory penalties, the system offers timely maintenance alerts, ensuring accuracy and long-term performance.
Kongsberg CEMS is supported by the company’s global network, offering shipowners a future-ready solution for emissions compliance, operational excellence and sustainability.
