In a video briefing (below) Sachin Gupta, business manager, Oil Solutions, WIlhelmsen Ships Service, notes that each compliance option – low-sulphur fuels, scrubber technology and alternatives including LNG – has a potential impact on fuel condition. In the case of distillate fuels, the refining process results in challenges around lubricity fuel degradation.

“We believe systematic fuel treatment is an absolute operational necessity as we approach 2020,” says Gupta. “Maximising your low-sulphur distillate fuel’s performance will help ensure your future post 2020 is free from combustion issues.”
