Demand for low-GHG methane looks set to rise as LNG vessels face tightening emissions rules, supported by existing infrastructure but challenged by cost and regulation.

That’s according to DNV, which argues in its new whitepaper ‘Methane in Shipping: LNG‑fuelled ships and the switch to low‑GHG methane’ that demand for low-GHG methane will grow as the global fleet of LNG vessels expands under stricter shipping emissions requirements.
