Bunker levy on tankers won’t achieve short-term goals

The slow entry of dual-fuel tankers, such as AET's Eagle Valence, into the tanker fleet will alter the effect of bunker levies.

A study of the impact of a bunker levy on the tanker segment demonstrates that levies as high as $1,200 per metric tonne of fuel are unlikely to achieve the IMO’s short-term decarbonisation goals.
