MAIB finds multiple factors involved in Francisca container loss

MAIB’s preliminary assessment found that Francisca’s violent pitching and ploughing into the heavy seas resulted in a rapid loss of speed and heading control.

The UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has published a preliminary report into the loss of 34 containers overboard from the Francisca in October 2020 citing human element and vessel structural issues.
