North European expertise in the design and operation of vessels dedicated to the heavy-load trades, married with increasingly adept Chinese production of specialised tonnage, has yielded the first of a new generation of heavy-lift ships.

Constructed on the banks of the Yangtze, the 15,000dwt Orca class features two 800t-capacity deck cranes, affording the ability to handle ultra-large items of cargo, including some of the world’s biggest wind turbine components.
