Hydrogen ICE outperforms PEM fuel cell in life cycle analysis

The study revealed terrestrial ecotoxicity potential of the fuel cell was higher than the internal combustion engine.

A study published in Science of the Total Environment has indicated, at least at this early stage of development, that an internal combustion engine burning hydrogen performs better in a life cycle analysis than a PEM fuel cell using hydrogen as fuel.
