The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has recently aired a podcast update on the IMO’s legally binding Net-zero Framework which will combine mandatory emissions limits and GHG pricing across the entire industry sector.
IBIA is a long-term supporter of the Propulsion and Future Fuels conference which will take place in Hamburg from 25-27 November.
In the latest episode of IBIA’s podcast, Energy Evolution, host Eklavya Gupte speaks with Commodity Insights journalist Max Lin, Edmund Hughes from the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), and Georgios Kasimatis from DNV Maritime to gain insight into the complexities of these regulations and their implications for the decarbonization of the maritime sector.

The framework, set to be formally adopted in October 2025, before entry into force in 2027, will become mandatory for large ocean-going ships over 5,000 gross tonnage, which emit 85% of the total CO2 emissions from international shipping.
The measures in the framework are not without controversy and the Propulsion and Future Fuels conference will offer an ideal opportunity for presentations and further in-depth discussions on this key issue.
