New “green” vessels are increasingly being added to fleets, but they are not the only answer to the decarbonising transition of the shipping industry.

Retrofitting existing vessels has now become crucial, and with it comes the added benefit of prolonging the life and financial efficacy of those assets. Experts and industry leaders in this field will gather at the Propulsion and Future Fuels conference in Hamburg from 25-27 November to discuss and update in the Retrofit session.

Joining the session are David Cafarelli, Global Sales & Application Engineering Manager for Upgrades and Retrofits at Accelleron and Ole Frydek, Project Manager in Solutions Sales at Caterpillar. David is responsible for commercial and technical activities to enhance medium-speed, 4-stroke engine performance through advanced turbocharging solutions. With extensive engineering expertise and international experience in Europe and South America, David offers strategic insight into decarbonization challenges in the marine industry.

Ole specializes in the development and global deployment of technical solutions aimed at improving the efficiency, emissions and performance of medium-speed, four-stroke diesel and gas engines. With a background in engineering and a Six Sigma Black Belt certification, Ole has spent his career at the intersection of technical innovation and practical application with a passion for continuous improvement to every project.
