Korean partners gain AiP for liquid hydrogen fuel tanks

The Korean Register has awarded a Korean consortium an AiP for two variants of liquid hydrogen containment tanks, the second using a next-generation stainless steel alloy developed by project partner POSCO

The Korean Register has granted Approval in Principle (AiP) for two types of the liquid hydrogen fuel tanks for ships. The award, the first of its type awarded to South Korea-based enterprises, included a version incorporating a novel stainless steel developed by POSCO that exhibits improved hydrogen embrittlement resistance.
