The third day of Propulsion & Future Fuels 2019 gave delegates access to the Becker Marine Systems advanced LNG Hybrid Barge during a visit hosted by HPE Hybrid Port Energy.

During the tour, Managing Director, Lars Ravens and Sales Manager, Chensuqiu Lin, were on hand to answer questions and lead the tour, giving real time answers to participants. The Becker Marine Systems advanced LNG Hybrid Barge is an innovative solution for improving air quality due to marine emissions in Hamburg, producing significantly lower emissions than the diesel engines used to generate power on board cruise ships and has been shown to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% and NOx by 80% with no particulates or sulphur emissions whatsoever. Designed as a flexible and mobile solution, the barge supplies power to cruise ships during the summer season and is able to operate as a floating power and heat plant in the winter.

The tour tied in with the LNG session on this year’s programme, which featured Rolf Stiefel, Vice President Sales, WinGD; Antony Vourdachas, Senior Engineer - Advisory Services, ABS; Gunnar Helmen, Sales Manager Marine, Gasum; Christian Hoepfner, Managing Director, Wessels Marine GmbH; & Julien Bec, Vice President, GTT.
