Alfa Laval to deliver first methanol-fired boiler solutions

Alfa Laval has announced that it has concluded the world’s first orders for steam boilers capable of operating on methanol on board a ship. The news was announced as the technology company announced that it was introducing methanol-fired Aalborg boiler systems into its portfolio of alternative fuel solutions. 

Alfa Laval noted that it has secured significant orders for Aalborg boilers operating on methanol. The methanol-fired boiler solutions will be installed on newbuild container vessels, and more deliveries are in the pipeline for cruise ships and tankers. The first deliveries of the methanol boilers are scheduled to commence in late 2023.
