MR2 TANKER DESIGN FEATURES THREE 100-TON SAILS

A consortium including Cargill Ocean Transportation is examining wind-assisted propulsion for a series of MR2 newbuilds.

Shipowner Cargill has committed to a newbuilding project with wind technology company BAR Technologies and naval architect Deltamarin that will see three 45-metre tall WindWings, each weighing approximately 100 tons, fitted to the deck of a series of MR2 product tankers.
