Last chance to book for Propulsion & Emissions Conference
The 36th Motorship Propulsion and Emissions Conference – entitled ‘Ship Energy Efficiency Today’ - is now only a matter of days away, and it is still not too late to book the last remaining places at this ever-popular event.
To be held, once again, at the Kempinski Atlantic Hotel in Hamburg, Germany, on 21/22 May, the event features a packed and varied programme. Keynote speakers are Bo Cerup-Simonsen, Vice President and Head of Maersk Maritime Technology, Dr Monika Griefahn, Chief Sustainability Officer, AIDA Cruises, and Capt Wolfram Guntermann, Director Environmental Fleet Management, Hapag-Lloyd. The welcome address will be given by Achim Wehrmann, Director of Shipping, Federal Ministry of Transport Germany, and the conference chairman will be Lars Robert Pedersen, Deputy Secretary General of BIMCO.
As well as addressing the important questions of making ships, both newbuild and existing, compliant with current and upcoming emission regulations while optimising efficiency, of engines and the ships themselves, the conference will look at the important and controversial subject of ballast water treatment. Ships have to remain reliable as well as efficient and compliant, so a session on lubricants will have much to offer. But perhaps the most interesting sessions will be those involving panel discussions with shipowners, giving actual experiences on the EEDI and associated topics, and on the important question of enforcement – it’s all very well introducing rules and setting limits, but how can we ensure that all owners, rather than just the most responsible, comply?
The event is particularly valuable for its networking opportunities, starting with the pre-conference reception at MAN PrimeServ, and including the conference dinner, as well as lunches and coffee breaks. All of these are included in the delegate package, so don’t delay. We hope to see you there.
