Aegir-Marine adds stabiliser repair to services
Aegir-Marine has added stabiliser and steering gear repair services to its portfolio of maritime services, which is all part of its long-term growth strategy.
Back in February, the company reinforced its team with a new specialist in stabilisers which means that it’s now able to offer ship owners and ship managers a one-stop-shop overhaul service.
Martin Visser, service director, Aegir-Marine Group, said: "We are pleased to add these specialised services to our portfolio. The first reactions from the market are encouraging. Customers really like the idea of a total propulsion service package from one source.”
“Aegir-Marine is able to offer stabiliser repair services to new, as well as to our existing clients in the cruise, navy and ferry industries. Ship-owners could do without the hassle of coordinating several parties to repair their ships. And in this quest Aegir-Marine is standing side-by-side with its clients.”
When it comes to stabiliser supply, the company supplies 99% to navy and cruise ships and ferries. In cruise ships and ferries stabilisers are needed to prevent passengers from becoming sea sick. Navy vessels meanwhile have to be swift and agile which makes them sensitive to rolling so stabilisers need to be mounted.
Aegir-Marine aims to train two more experts in the stabilisation field by the end of 2017. It is also aiming to expand its inhouse repair capacity for ship components including thrusters and propulsion systems.
The Dutch company provides service and parts for all major propulsion systems as well as a complete integrated overhaul service.
