Sami Kanerva, Global Product manager for fuel cell solutions at ABB Marine & Ports, will be delving into the scalability issues of fuel cells in the “Hydrogen and Fuel Cells” session at this year’s Propulsion and Future Fuels conference.

This is one of thirteen valuable sessions in which to learn, discuss and progress the business opportunities available in this sector. The conference takes place in Hamburg from 25 – 27 November. 

Sami received a Doctorate in Science from Helsinki University of Technology in 2005 and since then has intensively worked on technology concepts for renewable energy and marine technology.  

He has conducted the development of integrated marine fuel cell solutions since 2017, when ABB integrated the first marine fuel cell systems for two 100 kW demonstrators and joined the European research projects “MARANDA” and “FLAGSHIPS”. He has also contributed to the development of an integrated fuel cell solution for the hydrogen powered megayacht “Breakthrough”, and the European hydrogen valley project “BalticSeaH2”.
