The world’s largest shipping association, BIMCO; German Shipowners Association, VDR, who represent the fourth-largest merchant fleet in the world and VSM who represent political and economic interests of its 140+ members confirm their chairmanship of Propulsion & Future Fuels 2022.

Lars Robert Pedersen, Deputy Secretary General of BIMCO; Martin Kroeger, Managing Director of VDR; and Reinhard Lüken, CEO of VSM all return to the Motorship conference to chair the two day conference.

Pedersen, Lüken and Kroeger will be responsible for facilitating discussions during panels and encouraging audience participation in the Q&A time after presentations. Pedersen brings over 30 years of experience in the maritime industry and knowledge from the world’s largest international shipping association, with around 2,000 members in more than 120 countries.

Lüken draws his experience from a career with Meyer Shipyard, covering strategic development and government relations, including European and international affairs. During this time he built up the new Brussels of the Community of European Shipyards Associations (CESA), which later appointed him as Secretary General in 2001. In 2012 he managed the formation of the new joint association for shipyards and marine equipment producers, SEA Europe, and became the first Secretary General. Lüken sees opportunities, in the expansion of hydrogen technology to make shipping clean and to replace fossil fuels.

Kroeger holds the position of Managing Director of the German Shipping Foundation and is Member of the Board of the German Cooperation for Social Insurance of the Transport Industry. He is Member of the Board of the European Community Shipowners Association, the European Maritime Law organisation and the German Maritime Law Foundation.

This year’s conference will boast many opportunities for debate and discussion throughout the numerous parallel fuel and propulsion sessions.
