Schottel sets new propulsion benchmark in Australia

Schottel has secured a major role in vessel propulsion for the Onslow Iron project, supplying advanced systems for a fleet of barges and tugs.

All seven barges and two of the seven tugs are new ship building projects underway at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry yards in Zhoushan and Guangdong, China. Five barges are already operating at Western Australia’s Port of Ashburton, with all remaining units, including the tugs, scheduled for delivery in 2026.
