WATCH: Wind propulsion prototype completes sea trials

Oceanbird has completed the installation and successful sea trials of its Wing560 wind propulsion system aboard Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s car carrier Tirranna, marking a significant commercial milestone for the technology.

DNV granted the Wing560 design certificate in early June, confirming regulatory compliance and safety for the retrofit. Installation was completed at Damen Shipyard in Rotterdam between 21 and 24 June 2026 before Tirranna departed on its next voyage.
